Apology to Reddish and Ranieri

(0 votes, average 0 out of 5)

Ranieri_webIn the world of journalism, it can be easy to get carried away with silly descriptions, and though we try not to go too far – I’m afraid we did during the test of the Ranieri Voyager 19S, which appeared in the July issue of Sports Boat and RIB.

In the article, whilst talking about the striking beauty of their new 19S we made an unfortunate comparison to the remaining Ranieri range being ‘as exotic as a plate of greasy fish and chips’. This is far, far from the truth. It is a comment put in (by myself) in a moment of madness, and completely absent of the clear fact that the whole range, as sold by Reddish Marine, is a lovely collection of aesthetically beautiful boats. And so we apologise, rightly and wholeheartedly, to owners of Raneri craft, to those who have bought from Reddish Marine in the last twelve months and to the staff at Reddish Marine, who have been nothing but their professional and courteous selves about this whole matter. It was an outrageous and unjust comment.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to remind those considering the craft that the outboard used in the test was loud thanks to its drilled out exhaust – this is of course not the standard engine, but one taken from a racing boat - as stated in the article. Suzuki 4-stroke engines are quiet, pleasant, efficient and a perfect compliment to this boat. Reddish Marine say there is no slip of the prop with a standard outboard.

The Sports Boat and RIB team pride themselves as presenting fair, just and educated opinions on all boating subjects. This was a rare and bad judgement call on our behalf, and normal service has been resumed.
