summer hols - at last!

Postby baasboat1 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 6:02 pm

Well managed to get out today, looked grey and a bit windy first with a bit of a lumpy sea, but thought sod it and went out.
Was lumpier than I thought as the boat went airbourne with mrs and kids bouncing round and not very happy, so dropped it down to 10mph for a 3 mile stint out to a fishing mark. Still grey cloud but the wind started to ease, then the cloud came whiter and the winmd tailed off. A few doggies and a decent bull huss later, it was starting to get 'sunny'... I checked on the web to see what sunny was again.
Moved fishing spots a few times but nothing else all day, just a load of bright red lobsters at the end of the day (me and the mrs are red as hell - kids did have suncream and spent a lot of the day inside playing)
So I'm sat here now, bbq on, aftersun stinging and feeling like summer has finally arrived imn north wales, bet it rains tomorrow!

Good to see that the sun is edging its way north :D

The sun could do with moving a bit further north still... I've been up on Loch Lomond for a couple of days and it's been pretty much overcast both days. Still, it's been flat calm and so ideal for wakeboarding and 50+mph blasts! :D

Well managed to get out again today, very grey at first, then rain - so put the greenhouse up and all was well, few hourd later and the sun was out, though the wind picked up to F4.

Fishing was good, some mackeral, bull huss and 2 big thornbacks - one made a mess of an 80lb wire trace - the hook in the photo is an 8/0 to give it some scale, glad I kept my fingers out of the way

Well, the sun finally got as far north as the Loch today :D

Oddly enough, although we did a fair bit of wakeboarding, we spent more time just messing about on the boat than actually going anywhere on it. Stopped at Luss pier for a while and let the kids spend some time jumping off the pier. We saw Big Zebedee cruise past at one point but, as there were no free spaces on the pontoon, he carried on by - not heard from him on the forum for some while...

I'm not sure about the outlook though, as the forecast seems to change almost hourly. Keeping my fingers crossed for dry weather!

Big Zeb did drop by the forum a little while ago but like yesterday, just breezed past :D

I think he still lurks occasionally

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
