Maybe everyone's out on the water?

Wishful thinking here I'm afraid. A friend and myself were discussing this very issue a couple of days ago. He's only been out a couple of times this year too.
For me it's largely down to work, work, work and if I'm not working the Missus is - so little to contribute at the moment other than the slow ongoing projects!

Logistics are a much bigger headache than I ever imagined! If we book holiday, it rains or worse, blows a gale - factor in tides, son's school etc... Boating was intended as a family thing for us!

Then there's parking issues and fees - not excessive if you go out for the day, but OTT for a couple of hours use.
Hoping to do our first 'night cruise' Monday (

) so might have something to post next week...

TBH, not really night but late evening as weekends are proving impossible! I work 8:30-5:30 Mon-Fri plus Saturday nights and Missus Tues-Sun noon 'til 3pm & 6pm-11pm. The plan is to leave work, nip home & change, load & hitch up boat and the head to Teignmouth for about 6:30/7pm. We're only planning a few hours, so a short run up to Torbay/Brixham and back. Hopefully back by 10pm before it's too dark/shallow - recovery in the dark will be a first for me! Wouldn't have entertained this idea last year given our limited experience, but with a chartplotter installed, I'm a little more comfortable. If wind is too much to the East, we might switch to Torquay launch and shorten the trip. We're well equipped safety-wise (VHF, paddles, bilge, flares, jackets, tow ropes, torches, working nav lights etc etc and have a small 2hp aux etc), so watch this space!
I have an extended weekend for the bank holiday at the end of the month (off Frid-Weds), so will doing my utmost to be out for the Cowes-Torquay-Cowes and the Torbay regatta Red Arrows! If so, will ensure lots of pictures and a detailed write up... Also have a half-day the following Friday for Dartmouth Regatta if weather permits and nothing goes awry.
