Alderney poll - please read and action asap

Postby jokaboat » Sun Feb 20, 2011 10:39 pm

After some discussions off line I have been asked to post this poll. We need to get on and make a decision so please indicate your feelings. If no conclusive result is forthcoming gazjen will make the final decision. :D

The reason for the two week earlier option is to avoid the spring tide.

Have voted 2 weeks earlier, but have to check with Claire as she may now be stuck to the Original dates due to her work...

I have voted for 2 weeks earlier, mainly because of the tides as im inexperienced so anything that might help. However I can do either weekend. I have also gone for fri-sun just to try and keep some momentum in the voting but I will need to get some serious brownie points before hand if I am going to leave the mrs with our 2 little ones while I go off on a three day jolly! However I can do just the sat-sun.

Basically I can do any of the above but would prefer the one I voted for.

Just to clarify we are talking about the weekend of 8-9-10 July?

No vote cast as I really don't mind and will go along with what ever the result.
On the one hand going earlier gives more gap to the Poole August meet, but on the other some will have already made plans for the original dates!
And remember sods law...if you change from the original date now, guess when the hottest, calmest day of the year is going to be!!!!!

Well the way I see it it would be a real shame if we lost a participant in this if we moved it, I'd personally like to keep it the same weekend, the two week earlier date is my birthday and although I'm not 5 any more I don't think I'd be very popular with the daughter if I buggered off playing with boats :)

I have a one bed tent, one of those camping stove things, my brother also has a massive 3 bedroom tent with living room I'm sure we could borrow if required.

I'm with you Gaz, would be a real shame to lose a boat so let's stick with it and go camping :D

No problem, I agree one for all and all for one! I will cancel my nice cosy warm bed and get the tent out however......

Guys, I dont want to pi55 anyone off but I thought I would ask and I know we are close to finalising dates etc. How is everyone fixed for the weekend of the 15-17 July instead. 2 reasons, the first being admittedly selfish: This time last year my self my dad and brother all did our PB2 together, my brother due to work could not make the IOW Trip and was gutted, his work this morning have mixed up his dates for The Aldernery trip so he cannot come if we go on the 23rd weekend, so I was a bit gutted as the more experience I had going over the better and it would of been nice for the 3 of us to go.

The second reason is that it will give a bit more space between those of us for the Poole weekend.

I just want to ask if its neither here nor there for you guys to go the week before, could we discuss this option? If however one of you cant make it then I am 100% behind the original dates and camping.

I hope this doesnt seem too selfish to ask, but hey we are all friends on here and I aplogise for the last minute shennanigans!

D'oh!

Sounds of hair being torn out and distant screams. :!:

Actually it makes no difference to me but it will be springs that weekend which is causing Ed concerns. Just means we'll have to watch the tide times a bit closer.

I'll step back and let the discussion flow :D

I dont want anyone to feel uncomfortable by changing the dates so if that is the case we can scrap my idea,......

Matt, go and stand in the corner, face the wall and report to my study later, I'll get the cane ready .............

We thought it over and it's best not to go with a Spring tide. Sorry mate, I wanted that weekend too but like you are going with the majority, I'd rather go and enjoy all your company than not. :D

Soooo if we are all agreed it's Friday 22nd set off to return Sunday 24th

Oh and Morning Campers!!
