And me!

What sort of dates are we looking at so that I can discuss with the owner? I know from experience that the only way to organise these things is to set a date and hope that people can come because if you try and please everyone then it becomes impossible.

We could even run it twice if necessary (and if it goes well).

As I said in the other thread we would love to have a go and I can probably borrow some skis but we'll have to avoid May as it is chock full of exams for Kate.

No trailer so I'll be scrounging space on a boat but I'm more than happy to cough up petrol money and to help launching etc.

I spoke with the manager of the site this morning and confirmed the following details:

Boat Restrictions
ONE boat on the lake at any one time
All boats up to 21 foot permitted, all engines (Inboard, Outboard, Petrol, Diesel, LPG) permitted
All boats should meet reasonable noise limits (no through hull exhausts)
All boats must PROVE suitable 3rd party insurance.
Boat testing permitted, subject to having insurance
When ski-ing/towing suitable Skiing insurance must be held and PROVED.

Activity Restrictions
All towing activities permitted (Skiing,Wakeboarding,Ringos)
Multiple towing (two ringos etc.) is NOT PERMITTED
Multiseat towing (ie. a 3 person ringo) IS PERMITTED up to the certified specification of the device.

Bookings
£20 per hour, 2 hours minimum rental, payment in advance.
Currently not available weekends, main school holidays, Wednesday Afternoons, Monday and Thursday Evenings due to other bookings.

Honesty bit
Owner says weed build up occurs after June but they manage to run their own boats (Mastercraft 21ft) ok.

I am going over to have a coffee with him this weekend.

Once we have some dates sorted I will go and pay (probably for 5 hours - £100) and we can argue later about splitting. I am fairly laid back about this cost as it represents a good day at the coast for us (launch fees, car diesel and boat petrol) so if we are the only boat.....

It's 1 hour 5mins from me according to Google, but thats M23, M25, M4, presumably at 70mph. I'm guessing 1hr 30mins ish but depends when we want to meet up and what time the lake is booked for. I would prefer to come down early but I think the traffic will be busy, with jams on the M25.

If I left at say 07.00 we could book the lake from say 09.00hrs until 14.00hrs?? What do you think? Or even a 10.00 til 15.00hrs??

It's about an hour for me but 10:100 would be good to miss the traffic.

Of course your invited! We may have to limit boats as there is little point in turning up with a fleet larger than the UK Navy (not hard to do based on the current Navy strength) when only one is allowed on the lake at a time.

There appears to be no reason why it will not go ahead. Its a proper commercial organisation and a proper booking mechanism, not a "throw me £20 and hoon around my lake". I have spoken to them today and they are happy.

Just make sure your insurance documents have clear wording permitting the activity, I noticed my could have been considered ambiguous as it excluded various activities such as kite-boarding and various derivatives of skiing and didn't specifically mention wake-boarding and knee-boarding. According to the insurance company because they are not named in the exclusion list that means they are automatically included. But they have agreed to send me a clarification email to show the venue manager to avoid doubt.

An initial review of the diaries and other peoples posts makes Friday 25th May look like a TARGET date for anyone planning to come. As I say, not cast in stone.

James is also in exams but this is a Friday, with no exams for him and no revision classes either (and he can do some work on the Saturday/Sunday)

On a selfish note, the 25th for me is perfect, it's in the middle of my 3 rest days.

In addition I think if you agree Martin that 10.00am until 3.00pm sounds good. Even if we were to leave by 5.00pm we would still miss a lot of the traffic.
