brass bungs

Postby speedy » Tue Jul 06, 2010 8:24 am

Hiya peps

I'm finding very difficult to get hold of a new brass bung for my maxum 1900 sc 2001 model. I've lost my existing two  over the last 3months.

Any help would be very appreciated

Regards

Most marinas sell them there are just a 1/2" brass bung, I would imagine aqua part, key part etc sell them, I picked up a spare from my local marina while I was passing (Sawley Marina)

You will find that a 1/2 inch BSP male threaded brass stop end or flanged plug also fits, available from any plumbers merchants, and at a fraction of the price you can afford to lose a few too

Looking here:

http://pipeandhose.com/?q=node/2

it appears you are right Gazjen. According to the above, the 1/2 inch size of NPT and BSP are both 14 TPI, with the difference apparently being a 5 degree difference in the angle of cut of the thread and flattened v. rounded peaks and valleys; i wonder how accurately these small brass fittngs are machined? There would also be very little water pressure to resist.

At 0.5 metres water pressure is approx 5,125 Pa or very roughly 0.74 psi. I know I'm a geek! :)

mine is wired in ... has a steel rope connecting it to sump oil drain tube, so you can't lose it ... why not wire it in ?
Some people will always find fault - if you find a typo, please consider it put there for you.
