No boating this weekend but spent Saturday sanding the bathing platform and then teak oil applied.
The bathing platform had been jet washed at some stage and was very rough. I had looked Southampton boat show for a replacement, but at £800 thought it was expensive.
I spoke to Martin Payne at Hunton and he said with a bit of work there was no need to replace.
Here is before and after pictures, 4.5 hours with a sander and very pleased with results. :D

I have been thinking of having a go at my bathing platform. It does look good, well done mate.

Jet washing will bring some colour back to the wood, which is why some people are tempted to make a quick fix, but as you have found out, it also raises the grain and goes back to grey quickly.

You've made a good job of that, looks great. Now you've taken the picture of it looking new, compare it at the end of next season.......it'll dull a little but now you know how to do it again, it'll be a quick wipe with the oil again and back to new.

Couple more coats of Teak oil to go. Have now got to do the same with the cockpit area. However this is not as bad just needs a light sanding and oil applied. The bathing platform is also exposed to all weather elements which did not help. Hoping to get anall over cover for the boat to help keep clean. I have spoken with Warpa who is going to give the boat a machine polish and wax for me :D

Robbie,
I used the roughest sand paper i could get "40" seemed to do the trick. took off around 1 - 1.5 mm. Very dusty job but needed doing

Just an observasion Ian but were you floating in mid air when you took these pictures?
Above the bathing platform but not on the boat.
