Inland Boating in Surrey?

Postby NickP » Sat Mar 13, 2010 2:23 pm

Hi,
Im trying to find a lake in Surrey where I can launch my 4m RIB and tow the kids safely on the biscuit? Does anyone have any clues where I can go? Im in North Surrey (Esher).
Many thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick any luck with this one?

nearest to Surrey I know of is Merstham but they wont allow an engine,

otherwise the medway ski club is a really good place, for owners boats, own ramp and great club house/activities on the medway about 1/2 mile upstream of the M2 bridge

the wireworks ski club in Crawley never came back to me but I'm sure its club boats only for ski/toys

This post got lost in the Readers Cruising Grounds section. So I've moved it to General leaving a ghost topic behind. :)

BB do you mean Wiremill Ski Club? It's just down the road from me and they only allow club boats and skiing, no wakeboards or toys. A small friendly club with a rather nice pub attached to the lake. :D

Nick, most lakes in the UK are either private Ski clubs with their own boats run on LPG or fishing club lakes. Scotland seems to be the last bastion of fresh water sportsboating. Not much help I know.

When we lived in Marlow, Westhorpe Farm (known as Westhorpe Water Sports) used to let members use their own boats, not sure if they do now. You would have to join the club then rent the lake by the hour, quite expensive.
