May be me but as those at Saxon know my boat is still missing its legs.

I have had a photo sent showing that they are nearing completion but until they are back on the boat i do not want to commit.

If anyone is at Saxon and seems my legs back on please let me know.

If I'm down at the weekend, as I hope to be, I'll have a look.

Ok as I see it HT Portsmouth is 16:40 on the 4 th. Slack at Hurst is 1 hour before HE Portsmouth so 15:40. If we leave Saxon about 14:00 we'll be arriving just before slack and just before HW which should be fine. We should have something like 3.5 to 4 metres of tide over the Shingles.

Plot a course through the North channel and we'll have a look at Bournemouth on the way :D

Just a thought, leaving cobbs at 10- 10.30 may well put us all in the middle of the bridge lift at 10.30. May be worth setting off by 9.30/9.45 just to be sure of getting through before the queue (based on last weekend) we went out in a conga line from before the lifeboat college all the way through with all sorts of people unaware of the new bridge lights and faffing around to look at the new bridge...great when the channel is less than 15m wide right now

Also if anyone needs lots of height to get under the bridge they may have to go out o the lift....I know we went out today at around 10.50 and there was 2.05m and we needed the Ariel down to get though, that is about as little air draft as I have seen required but I am not sure exactly what the tightest squeeze is at highest tide, can check the tide table tomorrow but it is in a car which is nit here right now

10am is at low tide. You should be ok. It only just goes below 1m then stays up for the afternoon into the early evening

I dont think that there is ever a time when our kind of boats can't get through Poole Bridge!
Also leaving Cobbs during or near bridge lift times has never been an issue for us as little boats can just sneek past on the outside of the channel, though it is true that there is a new pinch point past the new bridge.

i don't know what boats people have got so couldn't comment, i know that at high tide we are tight to get under....(done it twice this week and needed the areil down both times going out and yes the new bridge works make a big pinch point especially as a lot of people either haven't worked out the light system or they wanted to have a look at a one of the cranes on a barge

low tide is at 10 on sat with just shy of a meter under chart datum high is at 14.00 then the second at 19.00 with just shy of 2.0m over datum so other than staying in the channel so as not to suck mud or trash a prop on the way out, i don't know the channel round the back of brownsea but we draw just over a meter... we may have to go out the conventional way and meet past the ferry.

Good points Cem, the only really shallow bit is Ramshorn Lake which is about 100m long and will only be just over 1m deep at low tide. The rest is comfortably deeper.....but it is soft mud!!!

Ok so who has met who in the past?

Being new to this how do you identify another forum member...secret handshake???? or perhaps a secret question..."are you captain pug wash.?". Followed by a reply of yes and the black pigs are all in a row

Or perhaps just knowing boat names might be a bit more sensible

BTW We will be on Yin Yang

As far as I know

I suggest we gather by the slip about 9:30 as those that arrives on Friday will be ready to go (me (Colin) , Matt (matt13) and Gareth (gazgen)) so we can help those launching (Dominic (dbp101) and Colin(cem))

Not sure where we are meeting Mark (H20) and Martin (mlines) yet?

Strangely although we were going to be infested with Ians for the Alderney trip we have none at all now, but we have two Colins.

Life

i have seen my legs and they are finished, It is now down to me to await the new Decals so they can be applied and then lacquered over.
Legs will be going back on boat next week, so middle to end of August should look good to join you on any trips.

i am definately going out on the August Bank Holiday Sunday to watch the Powerboats not sure if any others are planning to do the same?
