Winterise again!

Postby mlines » Sat Mar 31, 2012 5:23 pm

Forecasting minus 4 and minus 5 overnight on Weds/Thurs, might have to drain the water back out the block again :(

Just stick a heater in the engine bay, it can't last long! :?

We never properly winterised last year, just a clean down, mini oil rad in cuddy, and 100W tube heater in engine bay.
Have rebuilt trailer hubs tho (5 years out of bearings with bearing buddies), and should have changed engine oil yesterday. Instead, we hauled to Levington and we're about to enjoy bacon butties, followed by a walk and a pint at Pin Mill, then a fast cruise to Ipswich for the night. I love my boat!

As it happens it looks as though this cold snap may not be that severe. I've just been looking at the latest weather models. It may freeze, but not a really deep one.

Think I'm still going to chuck a heater in the engine bay Monday just in case

I have just looked at the forecast whilst down at Saxon.
Probably down to 2 degrees around Thursday, if it does get colder it will only be for an hour or two just before dawn. Inside a boat I doubt that it will drop below zero, I am chancing it anyway.
Maybe in other parts of the country the story will be different of course.

Spent all day cleaning and polishing one side of the hull and my neck aches like mad now. Only the other side, the stern and the topsides to go, SWMBO has cleaned the cockpit and inside nicely.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
