Unlikely, hopefully I'll be out on the water. Looking at the exhibitor list it's still 90% ribs + Jeanneau yachts

Might take a run round by sea though just to have a nose, although we'll not be able to get very close due to the Pompey no crossing rules unless you have a berth. And I doubt that there'll be any space at Gunwharf.

We're more likely to be there if it's raining so the boss can go shopping while I look at boats

Funny you should say that yesterday, because we have been having rumblings in the house about it again and further discussions yesterday as well.

over the last few weeks I'm convinced Im suffering from some form of typing deficiency disorder or may be its just old age setting in, either that or the machines are rising up against me as auto correct on the IPad has definately got it in for me.

I will endevor to keep my forum posts at A level standard as much as poss Cap'n

On entering Portsmouth Harbour you MUST follow the small ships channel to the port side of the entrance. You have to stay between the port channel makers and the shore. There will be a harbour launch patrolling there to make sure you behave. The speed limit it 10 knots and they are VERY hot on this.

If you want to go to Gunwharf you have to book a berth in advance then as you enter the Harbour look out for Ballast Beacon, at that point you have to radio QHM Portsmouth (CH11) and request permission to cross to Gunwharf. Failure to do so means being chased by the harbour launch and being shouted at (and a possible fine). You have to go straight to Gunwharf with no deviations or you will be blown out of the water (OK maybe a slight exaggeration )

Arrival. In the interest of safety all Small Boats bound for Gunwharf Quays/Town Camber are to enter harbour through the Small Boat Channel. Vessels are only to cross the Main Channel when they are to the north of Ballast Beacon, and permission has been obtained from QHM on VHF Channel 11. Vessels fitted with engines are to use them from entering the Small Boat Channel until arrival at Gunwharf Quays/Town Camber.

Mariners are advised that there are no visitor berths or moorings at Gunwharf Quays, and that they will only be permitted to cross the harbour to Gunwharf quays if they have an assigned berth. The Gunwharf Berthing Manager is contactable on VHF Ch 80 or 02392 836732.

Speed Limits

The following speed limits apply:
Within Portsmouth Harbour - 10 knots.

Within 1,000 yards of the shore in any part of the Dockyard Port of Portsmouth - 10 knots.

Within Wootton Creek to the West of the meridian of the mouth of the creek.(Longitude 01 12’.84 W) - 5 knots.
The speed limit in each case is to be taken as "speed through the water".

On leaving Gunwharf you have to radio for permission again.

Having crossed I don't think you can stay on that side until you get North of the Ferry terminal (I think) as that is all Navy docks and they get very twitchy about you getting too close.

If it going to be good weather I am seriously contemplating a run out on Saturday.
I'm starting to get quite twitchy being this landlocked for so long now. Need to have a word with my brother or mate to see whos up for crew.
