Matt Crowhurst reflects on the best of the action from the Relentless UK Pro Wakeboard Tour . . .
Back in the day, it was all about one contest and one contest only - the UK Boat Tour. Through this championship, we saw household names like Dan Nott, Ben Hitch, Stewart Mackie and Marc Rossiter first emerge, flipping and spinning behind boats in a battle for fame and glory. But in 2010, it was all about the Relentless UK Pro Wakeboard Tour.
Thanks to Relentless, O’Neill, Power Balance and Kustom Footwear, the UK’s only professional wakeboard tour is back, having evolved into the Relentless Tour. The tour is divided into two disciplines - the boat competition, with two events (or ‘stops’) and a cable contest with three stops. This year’s tour saw riders taking it to the next level both behind the boat and on the tow.
Boat Stop 1 - JB Ski
The Relentless Tour kicked off this year in June at JB Ski in Thorpe, co-hosted by LDB Wakeschool. The best guys and girls threw down their skills behind the boat and the level of riding was absolutely fantastic. Thanks to great weather, butter-calm water and an extremely large wake created by LDB’s Malibu VLX, the Relentless UK Pro Tour got off to a fine start. The invited riders were a good mix of big names and new blood, and everyone was thirsty to prove themselves on the water.
